1. Information We Collect
Account information
- Email address, username, and display name
- Passwords handled through secure authentication. We do not see your plaintext password.
Profile information
- Bio and profile photo, if you add them
Food and restaurant activity
- Restaurants you visit, ratings, reviews, and visit dates
- Photos you upload
- Bookmarks, lists, likes, follows, and restaurant requests
Private content
You may add private notes or create private lists. These are not shown publicly.
Device and app information
We collect basic technical information needed to keep Plated secure, fix bugs, and understand crashes.
Permissions
Plated asks for photo library or camera access only when you choose to upload or take photos.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account
- Display your profile and activity to you and other users
- Power restaurant discovery and review features
- Maintain your visit history, bookmarks, and lists
- Keep Plated secure, fix bugs, and improve the app
3. What Others Can See
- Your public profile details, public lists, follows and followers, and public restaurant activity may be visible to other users.
- Private notes and private lists are not shared publicly.
4. Service Providers
Providers we use
These providers process data only as needed to help us operate Plated.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use third-party advertising. We use limited diagnostics to help us fix crashes and keep the app working.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Delete your Plated account and data
You can delete individual items at any time, or remove your entire account and all associated data.
Delete individual items in the app
You don't need to delete your account to remove specific content. From within Plated you can delete:
- Individual reviews, ratings, and visit entries
- Photos you've uploaded
- Bookmarks, lists, follows, and likes
- Your profile photo and bio
Deleted items are removed from your account immediately and purged from our systems within 30 days.
Delete your account from the app
- Open the Plated app and sign in
- Go to Profile → Edit Profile
- Tap Delete account and confirm
Can't access the app?
Email help@plated.so from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my Plated account". We will verify and process your request.
What gets deleted
Your account, profile, photos, reviews, ratings, visit history, bookmarks, lists, follows, and likes are permanently deleted within 30 days of your request.
What we keep
We may retain limited records (such as anonymized logs or transaction records) where required by law or for legitimate security purposes. These are kept no longer than necessary.
7. Security
Authentication tokens are stored using your device's secure storage. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. All data in transit is encrypted over HTTPS. No method of storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
8. Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, via an in-app notification.
